Growing Blessings at ISS! (April 2023)

April was exciting being our first full Month of spring this year at ngozi place.

We began implementing new activities and got the opportunity to experience new adventures. During April we were able to get a few of our non - ambulatory (our healthcare word of the month) out into the community for a shopping outing to Five Below! There the staff assisted clients in picking out an item they can enjoy in the ISS center. One client chose a neck pillow, another a deck of uno cards, and another chose a cool pair socks to keep their toes warm.

Additionally on another community trip, a group of our clients gathered their lunches that they helped assemble, and enjoyed the Friendship Luncheon at MHMR in Southeast Fort Worth. We encourage our clients to voice their concerns and ways we can deal with difficult situations. We held a group discussion with topics centered around appropriate and healthy ways to deal with Stress. A few of our clients stated their favorite ways in which they deal with the stresses of the day. A few activities included walking and exercise, listening to music, and the overall favorite was no surprise, sleep!

Some in house activities we held this month were playing bingo for small prizes, planting decorative flowers for our walls, movie day where we watched the movie Champions (2023), and had our end of the month Birthday celebrations for the Birthdays in April! We had cake and ice cream and all around blast of a birthday bash!

We look forward to the continued development of our program to address the individual skills, and socialization of our clients!
